Much like a magnet produces a strong attraction to its opposing force, most people attract mates with opposite personalities. Dave Kauffman says, “We’re attracted to what we’re weak in. Opposites attract. But, if we’re not careful, opposites will attack.”
Once married, we notice our spouse’s opposite actions and forget they’re not like us. The result can be misunderstanding and resentment.
Discovering your personality blend and the blend of your spouse is the first step to making a good relationship better and a lacking relationship new again. Dave will inspire couples to adapt and relate. He says, “Adapting happens in the brain. There we realize my husband or wife is not like me. Relating happens from the heart. We relate from our spouse’s standpoint, not from our own standpoint.” In a Biblical sense, Dave teaches husbands and wives how to better lay down their lives for one another. Dave says, “I’ll be telling how my wife and I met. It’s an amazing story.” He’ll also share how he and Toni thought their relationship was over.
Finally, he’ll reveal how their marriage was transformed and communication restored. Dave says, “There is hope for your marriage if you can understand where your spouse is coming from. Your spouse’s personality is how they are, not who they are.” Chris Keim, of men’s integrity group Fight The Battle, is excited to help them host this fun-filled, informative evening. He says, “My wife and I are polar opposites.” But, with knowledge from the DISC model, they’ve learned to appreciate their differences and to understand how they balance each other out. Chris says, “First, we learn to understand ourselves. Then we learn to understand the other person so we can adapt our personality to theirs.” He hopes that couples attending the event will come away seeing their (opposite) spouse as a benefit rather than a hindrance.
Dave Kauffman, an inspirational speaker from Sarasota, FL, is uniquely qualified to help couples understand their personalities, actions, and reactions. He teaches a model of human behavior based on the DISC Theory. D - Dominant I - Inspiring S - Supportive C - Cautious According to Dave, every human being is a blend of these four personality types.
